A Salisbury Chamber Chorus event presented in association with Stockbridge Music
Salisbury Chamber Chorus is returning to one of the most enduring favourites in the choral repertoire, Fauré’s Requiem. The work’s perfect mixture of French Romanticism, the sacred musical tradition, and Fauré’s sense of classical finesse, not to mention his ability to craft a beautiful melodic line, have made it the popular piece it is. And of course, it includes two of Fauré’s most famous movements, the Pie Jesu, and the ethereal In Paradisum.
Alongside the Fauré, the Chorus will be performing Stravinsky’s Symphony of Psalms, a short choral work that is dramatic and expressive, sharing a classical sensibility with the Fauré with its echoes of Bach and Mozart through a twentieth-century filter.
The choir will be joined by a string quartet, piano and organ.
