Tonight’s programme ‘The Taste of this Nation’ transports us back to a decisive juncture in the history of English music, following the death of Henry Purcell, painting a vibrant picture of the changing fashions and astonishing success of Italian styles, at the dawn of the 1700s. Featuring virtuosic works by Handel and his contemporaries, alongside the composers that inspired them.
