The Echéa Trio comprises violinist Rosa Hartley, cellist Eliza Millett and Ting-Ru Lai on viola. All three are prize-winning soloists in their own right as well as seasoned chamber musicians with Echéa.

Not only were they awarded the prestigious 2022 RCM Fellowship, an annual competition for already-flourishing ensembles, our three talented performers have won multiple prizes as soloists and beaten off stiff competition to win representation by City Music Foundation, Kirckman Concert Society, Tillett Trust and the Worshipful Company of Musicians.

We are thrilled to be able to give Echéa a platform here in Stockbridge, and warmly invite you to join us for what promises to be a sparkling evening.

Zoltán Kodály Duo for Violin and Cello, Op. 7
Ludwig van Beethoven String Trio in G major, Op. 9 No. 1
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Divertimento in E-flat major for Violin, Viola and Cello

Kodaly wrote his impassioned Duo in 1914 at the start of World War I and it is a case study in the fusion of classical forms with folk melodies and rhythm. Beethoven’s dazzling, instrumentally demanding and harmonically advanced String Trio is a joy from first to last. To round off the evening, the trio presents one of the greatest works ever penned for the “difficult” combination of violin, viola, and cello, Mozart ‘s sublime and masterful Divertimento, which dates from his miraculous summer months of 1788.
